Follow these steps to generate a free worksheet on InkPractice.
1. Choose a generator
Pick the product line that matches your goal:
- Create custom name tracing worksheets — first names and short letter drills
- Cursive practice sheets — joins, words, and handwriting rhythm
- Calligraphy letters — decorative letter styles and alphabet practice
The homepage also embeds a name-tracing generator so you can start immediately.
2. Enter your text
Type the exact name, word, or short phrase you want on the page. Quick chips under the text box insert common examples when you want a fast preview.
Stay within the character limit shown in the form. Longer classroom lists usually work better as several shorter sheets.
3. Adjust the sheet
Useful controls include:
- Style — handwriting, cursive, modern, script, gothic, or old English
- Letter size — small, medium, or large presets
- Trace or solid — light gray letters to follow, or bold ink for independent writing
- Paper — Letter (US) or A4
- Practice rows / blank rows — how many guided lines and empty lines appear
Advanced sliders let you fine-tune font size and line height.
4. Preview, then download
Watch the live canvas until spacing and size look right. Then choose:
- Download PDF — best for home or classroom printers
- PNG — useful for sharing a single-page preview image
Open the downloaded file on your device and print from your usual print dialog. Prefer bleed-resistant paper when practicing with ink pens.
